Most of Fred Black's history is classified.
Recruited by The Twenty Committee in 1936. In 1938 he visits Munich, ostensibly as a guest of the Nazi's who wish to support the British National Socialists. There, disguised as a certain Fraulein Müller, a cleaning lady at Nazi Party Headquarters, he makes contact with a British agent, and retrieves sensitive documents which he hides in his bloomers, and subsequently successfully smuggles them back to Britain.
With the outbreak of war, and unable to keep out of trouble, he joins up as a private in the BEF. He is captured during the retreat to Dunkirk but escapes from his POW camp. Back in England, he is recruited into the newly formed SOE. |
